10 days self drive safari in Kenya and Uganda, this is a combined self-drive safari that will take you through some of the best safari destinations in Kenya and Uganda. In Kenya part of the safari, you will visit the mighty Amboseli National Park, popularly known as the largest habitat for a range of wild animals in East Africa, especially the African elephant. In this park, you will have greater exploration of the famous Mountain Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.  You will also have to drive to Tsavo West National Park and Tsavo East National Park for more exploration into the wonders of East Africa.

Your10 days self drive safari in Kenya and Uganda will take you from Kenya to Uganda after crossing via the Malaba or Busia border. In Uganda, you will feel the fresh waters from the source of River Nile( Lake Victoria), visit the thunderous Murchison Falls, move through Kampala, Uganda’s capital with its wonderful clear views, and then to the breathtaking savannah park Lake Mburo National Park for the rare night game drive activity. at the end of it all, you will have to depart using Entebbe International Airport.

 Detailed itinerary of 10 days self-drive safari in Kenya and Uganda. (starting in Kenya and ending in Uganda)

 Day1: Travel from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

On this first day of our self-drive safari, you will start your journey from Nairobi in the early morning hours. You will have to drive at a reasonable speed that will enable you to reach the park in the time that suits the activity of the day according to your itinerary. You will have to travel for  3-4 hours. You will go for the afternoon game drive where you expect to see different animals like the African elephant, zebras, giraffes, Topis, kudu, lions, buffalos, and many others. From there, move to the accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Tsavo West National Park.

After the morning breakfast, you will move back to the park to see the animals that you missed the previous day.  You will ably see more animals as they leave the places, they spent the night searching for food.  After a drive of about 2-3 hours, embark on the voyage to the  Tsavo  West National Park. in this park, you will drive to the miraculous Mazima springs and Shetanin lava flow. In this place, you will see and observe how crystal water comes from the ground. From here, move to the accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3:Morning game drive and transfer to Tsavo East National Park.

Wake up early for a morning breakfast and then drive back to the park for the morning game drive. In this activity expect to see more lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras,  buffalos, and many nocturnal mammals returning to their nests and caves. From here drive to Tsavo East National Park where you will have an afternoon game drive of 2-3 hours then move to the accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4:Morning game drive in Tsavo East N P and then drive to Nairobi.

After breakfast, check out of the accommodation and go for a morning game drive through the park to see the animals you missed the previous day. This should take about 2 hours then head back to Nairobi. The journey to Nairobi will take 5-6 hours. When you arrive, have a rest and prepare for the next day’s activity.

Day 5:Travel from Nairobi to Jinja

On the fifth day of the 10-day self-drive safari, take an early morning breakfast and start on the voyage to Uganda via Busia or Malaba border to Jinja. You will have to travel for over 6-7 hours. On arrival have a brief exploration of Jinja city and the source of the Nile. In the evening, move to the accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park.

Early in the morning of the sixth day of your safari, enjoy breakfast and drive to Murchison Falls National Park.   It will take over 4-5 hours. On arrival, go directly to the lodge for lunch.  After lunch, go for an evening boat cruise on the Albert Delta, then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7:Morning game drive and hike to the top of the falls.

Wake up early for breakfast and then transfer to the park for a morning game drive where expect to spot the big 4 animals in the wilderness. These are lions, African buffalo, leopards, and elephants. There are also other animals in the same park, chimpanzees, monkeys, and giraffes.

You later return to the lodge for lunch then in the afternoon move out for an interesting hike to the top of the falls. you will enjoy great times as you watch the rolling hills and vegetation types as you enjoy the thunderous flow of the water into a narrow 8-meter gorge. After this experience, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala.

After an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and travel to Kampala. Start with an hour-long game drive through the park as you enjoy the stunning views of the countryside and the breathtaking vegetation of the park where you will luckily spot some animals. The journey to Kampala will take 5-6 hours. If you arrive before dawn, you can have a brief exploration of the city or visit any historical sites like the Uganda Museum or Kabaka’s palace. From there, move to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Early morning of the 9th day of the 10-day self-drive combined safari, have morning breakfast, check out of the lodge, and travel to Lake Mburo National Park.  You may decide to take a stopover at Kayabwe for views at the equator then proceed to the park, move to the lodge for lunch then continue for the evening boat cruise with a chance of spotting hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species.  From here, return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, you may opt to go for a night game drive where you will luckily spot nocturnal mammals. After this activity, return to the lodge for an overnight.

 Day  10: Morning game drive and transfer to Entebbe.

After finishing up with the early morning breakfast, embark on a full morning game drive through Lake Mburo National Park.  you will luckily spot some zebras, elands, warthogs, impalas, the Uganda Kobs, and many other animals. After an adventure of about 3 hours, pack your luggage and move out of the park with another game viewing.

You will have lunch in Masaka town and have a brief stop over at the drum makers’ village Mpambire to buy some souvenirs in remembrance of the journey. Then travel to Entebbe.
